All you need to do is upload a video resumé explaining why you are the perfect candidate for this job.
If the pandemic has stressed you up to the point where you want to quit your day job and just drink wine, there's one job that's tailor-made for you. Believe it or not, a winery is offering you the chance to move to California and live rent-free while making a six-figure salary if you love anything to do with wines. Murphy-Goode Winery made the announcement on their website and is seeking applications for that one lucky candidate. "Have you always wanted to live in breathtaking Sonoma Wine Country ... with a $10,000 per month salary, and rent-free for a year?" writes the Geyserville winery. "Do words like Cabernet, Rosé, and Chardonnay just roll off your tongue? We have a job that will instantly catapult you into the wine stratosphere," reads the note. One key criterion: The company wants someone who 'takes life one sip at a time.' Not to mention they offer you thirty cases of wine to boot along with the year-long position.
The winery offers you the chance to choose your path in the wine business once you get to zero down on what aspect of winemaking that really appeals to your heart. Murphy-Goode wants the new hire to be ready to "pursue (their) passion. "Start the first 90 days of your 'Really Goode Job' shadowing winemaker Dave Ready Jr. and exploring all aspects of the harvest. From there, we will work with you and your passions to help you choose your path in the wine business. The sky is your limit!" reads the website. Dave Ready Jr. is the son of one of the company's founders and he will be involved in the "exploratory process" of the candidate.

The candidate will get to acquire knowledge of vineyards and winery operations, and learn of the world of e-commerce. The company also wrote it aims to hire someone who will "develop strong working relationships across functions of the winery," and "work with teams to drive awareness and build demand for Murphy-Goode Winery." All you need to do is upload a video resume explaining why they believe this is their dream job. "All you need to do is pull out your camera and show us why you are a really Goode candidate," reads the note. The application is open to those 21 years or older authorized to work in the United States. Murphy-Goode Winery will evaluate applications on "role value, creativity, and design, applicable experience and skill set."
The unique position was first launched in 2009 with the idea of documenting a year of living and working at Murphy-Goode through social media. “We’re proud to bring back this impactful campaign amid a difficult year for many,” said Rick Tigner, CEO of Jackson Family Wines, the family-owned wine company that includes Murphy-Goode. “Living and working in this beautiful part of the world is a true gift, and we relish the opportunity to share that with someone who is passionate about breaking into wine. We hope to hear from a variety of candidates inside and outside the industry; in our backyard and beyond.”
Those interested can upload their video resum here by June 30, 2021. The winner will be selected and announced in July 2021, with the role officially starting in August 2021. The one-year job runs through July 2022.
