Fans of the actor believe that the movie would mark the actor's return to the big screen.

Fans are hoping the rumors are true! Could Johnny Depp be part of Tim Burton’s Beetlejuice 2 movie? Google search results revealed Depp as part of the cast list for the Beetlejuice sequel, joining his ex-fiancé Winona Ryder and Michael Keaton in the sequel. According to WFMZ, fans noticed the actor's name on what appeared to be a call sheet when they said they searched on Google for the upcoming Beetlejuice 2, set to release in 2025. Some are excited for the actor but others are skeptical. One person commented: "Thrilled to see Johnny Depp added to the cast of Beetlejuice 2." But another noted: "So you people did a Google search for Beetlejuice 2, saw his name pop up, and think that means he got cast in it? LMAO! I can see why you stand with him."

There is no confirmation whether the rumors are true or not but Ryder, who also starred alongside Depp in Tim Burton's Edward Scissorhands, is “hopeful” Beetlejuice 2 will go ahead, according to USA Today. The original Beetlejuice centered around Adam and Barbara Maitland, played by Alec Baldwin and Geena Davis. It also stars Catherine O’Hara and Jeffrey Jones as Delia and Charles Deetz, who move into the Maitlands' old house and become terrorized by Betelgeuse. Winona Ryder plays their goth teenage daughter, Lydia Deetz. Beetlejuice 2 is being produced by Brad Pitt's production company, Plan B Entertainment, reports Screen Rant. So far, only Keaton and Ryder have been confirmed in the sequel. According to Hollywood Life, Tim Burton is likely to be directing the sequel and has previously mentioned that he wants Johnny Depp to star in Beetlejuice 2. The two have worked together on numerous films like Edward Scissorhands, Sleepy Hallow, Charlie & The Chocolate Factory, and Sweeney Todd

The rumors of Depp starring in the sequel started making the rounds amid his ongoing defamation trial with ex-wife, Amber Heard, 36. The two met while making the 2011 movie The Rum Diary. The two dated and eventually got married albeit briefly. After their tumultuous relationship ended, Johnny Depp sued ex-wife Amber Heard for $50 million over a Washington Post op-ed in which she claimed to be a victim of domestic violence. Depp first filed the $50 million lawsuit in March 2019 claiming that the piece ruined his Hollywood career. Heard never mentioned Depp by name in the article. The lawsuit was postponed due to the pandemic and resumed recently. Heard is now countersuing for $100million.
