Not only did the man call his wife "too sensitive" for complaining about difficulties during her pregnancy, he made her sleep on the floor to accommodate guests at his parents' house.
Pregnancy is an extremely stressful time for a woman. What can make things slightly better for her is a partner who understands all her needs and prioritizes her care. Not everyone is lucky in that department as one Redditor would demonstrate on the group AITA (am I the a**hole). The 26-year-old woman was married to her 33-year-old husband for just over three months when she realized she was pregnant. And with it came the whole cycle of morning sickness and stress. "I'm having a difficult pregnancy this is my first time and it's hard, I have been feeling so much stress lately and morning sickness is the worst, I feel nauseous and tired all the time," wrote the woman. Early on in the woman's post, we get to see the kind of uncaring husband she married. She wrote, "His perfume upsets me, but he'd say that I'm overreacting and being overdramatic."
This incident gave way to a bigger showdown that took place in his parents' home where they would spend the weekend. While they would visit his parents every weekend, he would not allow his wife the same privilege of going to her own parents. He told his wife that her "parents make him feel uncomfortable and he thinks that they're playing favors between him and my sister's husband." One weekend, when they were at the house of her husband's parents, the man crossed all lines of callous behavior. A pregnant woman like her was made to sleep on the floor to make room for some guests. This should have angered anyone, least of all the woman. The fact that no one from his family objected to her discomfort is frankly quite appalling. "I told him I wasn't feeling comfortable and wanted to go sleep at my house but he told me that it wasn't appropriate for us to leave all of a sudden," she wrote.
The next morning, she got nauseous and wanted to use the bathroom. However, her husband asked her to "hold it" since his sister's kids were using it. "I was sick and I had a horrible headache, my mother-in-law came to tell us breakfast was ready and asked what was wrong. I told her I needed the bathroom, she went to hurry the kids up and called me to let me know that I can go," she wrote. When she came out, she saw her husband staring at her. Later in their room, she was "berated" for making what he called "disgusting" sounds inside the bathroom. Apparently, her husband's sister and her kids could not eat because of the sounds. The husband even said she had "embarrassed" him in front of his family and made them lose their appetite.
She wrote, "I was shocked I told him that I deal with this every morning and that I had no control over it so he should stop being mean to me about it, he got me really mad and stressed out when he argued that I could've been more 'civil' in his family's house and not act like that, I lost it I started yelling at him to take me home right then." The husband refused to leave and said he needed to eat breakfast specially made for them. He called his wife "overdramatic." She packed her bag and told her my mother-in-law she was leaving. Her mother-in-law understood since she knew the couple had an argument. "I waited in the car till he was done with breakfast then we argued in the car again. He dropped me off and left, I called my mom and I was crying because of his argument with me, he got angry that I vented to my mom and said that I was being too sensitive," she wrote.
The comments were unanimous about her not being at fault or the a**hole. Most called out the husband for his insensitivity with many asking the woman to leave the relationship as soon as possible.
