A photo of a baby with long, pointed nails that appear like 'claws' has gone viral.
Are manicures for babies a total "nail fail" of a trend? Well, a lot of people online seem to think so. Newborns with flashy claws or long digits don't really seem to bode well with a lot of parents. An image of a baby with claw-like nails did the rounds on the Internet recently and a lot of people seemed pretty put off by the look. Screengrabs of the flashy baby fingers were shared on Reddit. While we're not sure if the nails were real or photoshopped, they were pretty absurd to see on a baby. A lot of other Reddit users seem to agree as well.
A manicurist apparently wrote in a Facebook post alongside the photo: I can do your babies [sic[ nails...cheap rates. The photos showed one very small baby hand with some very long nails being gripped by a woman's thumb. The multiple photos show the newborn's hand with several different manicures in three different styles. Many people on Reddit were not impressed. In fact, they were concerned about the baby's well-being. Soupina wrote: Please don’t do this.. they already scratch themselves and others with their mini talons and few live to tell the tale. rutlandclimber replied, saying: We're hoping it's photoshop/a poor joke.
Shelly-Belle pointed out: That’s trashy, but it looks like photoshop. I hope no one’s out there here doing that, that’s so dangerous. nobranelson seemed pretty sure that the pictures had to be fake stating: Judging by all 4 pictures being the exact same picture with the only difference being the nails, and the lack of shadows/light where it should be on the nails, I’d say with full confidence that this is photoshopped. Don’t believe everything you see on the internet, folks! ISurvivedCrowleyHigh joked: Why does that look like it could be the opening shot of a horror movie about demonic, yet fabulous, babies?
Another photo of a baby manicure also got a lot of heat. This photo on Reddit perhaps looks a lot more "realistic" but is just as trashy. The photo features perhaps the tiniest pair of long, shaped, nails the world has ever seen on an infant. Most parents know how dangerous it is for babies to have long nails. It's an important part of the grooming duty to keep babies from accidentally scratching themselves... or their parents! The weird baby manicure was shared to the forum r/Trashy and received quite a lot of comments!
Macblack82 noted: Baby nails are sharp enough as it is, those things would tear your face right up. KazukiPUWU brought up an important point: More importantly, THE BABIES face. An itchy eye could result in permanent blindness.
JBits001 shared their own personal nail horror story, writing: Our daughter got my husband in the eye once and it fucked it him up pretty good. Had to wear and eye patch for a week and use drops. We would always be clipping them with the baby clippers but they were still always very thin and sharp, like little razors. After that incident she wore her baby mittens more often (the cloth kind). renaissance_witch said, worriedly: I hope they did this just for the picture but then again they let the baby's nails grow this much. Either way it's not good. I feel for the kid.
