A man has been sentenced to life imprisonment after the shocking murder of his 7-month-old son. Kane Kennedy grabbed his son Oskar Jobey-Kennedy's testicles and forced his fingers in his mouth, thereby killing him. In a hearing at Preston Crown Court, the judge heard that he was jealous of his girlfriend's love for the baby and became aggressive and abusive after his addiction to cannabis went up. Kennedy, then 20, told the police and social workers that he had fallen asleep on the sofa with the baby and found him unresponsive when he woke up, Daily Mail reports. In reality, the Heysham, Lancashire man had pushed his fingers down the baby's mouth to keep him from screaming and blocked access to his oxygen. Oskar was taken to the Royal Lancaster Infirmary but was pronounced dead minutes later on October 1, 2015.

The baby's mother, Tia Jobey, 19, who admitted to causing or allowing the death of a child, was sentenced to 30 months in jail the same month. Meanwhile, Kennedy was sentenced to at least 18 years in prison before he could apply for parole. Justice William Davies, the judge presiding over the case, told Kennedy. "Oskar was a tiny baby who relied upon those in charge of his care to protect him. In his case, both of those in the relationship failed him. His mother knew that he was at serious risk and did not take adequate steps to protect him and you were the one that killed that tiny baby. You caused serious and hugely painful injuries to Oskars genital area and pushed your fingers down his throats and suffocated him. It was a dreadful thing to do to that seven-month-old tiny baby who was in the care of you. Your family life was well supported both by your grandmother and Tia's mother and this is not a case where you were at your wits end."

The judge also heard that both Jobey and Kennedy had a rough relationship and they would often fight over the latter's use of cannabis as well as his immaturity. The couple's neighbors often heard the two arguing and could even smell cannabis coming from outside their flat. The case of the toddler's death came to light at around 8:45 a.m. on October 1 when Kennedy made a 999 call and told the operator: "I fell asleep on the couch with my son last night and he's not breathing." When police and paramedics arrived at the flat, they found Oskar unresponsive but warm. They then tried to resuscitate him but were unsuccessful - the baby was pronounced dead at around 9:44 a.m. the same morning. It is being said that the couple continued to remain in a relationship after the death of the toddler. A few months later, the couple was said to be expecting a second child but Kennedy was arrested on suspicion of murder before the baby could be born.

In a similar story, a 29-year-old man and the father of five children in Milwaukee punched one of his child leading to grave injuries that ultimately took his life. The reason for him assaulting the child was because his 5-year-old son, Sir Stackhouse, ate a cheesecake meant for his father on the occasion of Father's Day. Ironical, to say the least. The child suffered a severe ruptured stomach, bruised kidneys, and a torn adrenal gland, according to the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner’s Office. The cause of his death was declared to be blunt force trauma to the abdomen. Travis Stackhouse at first claimed that his child fell from the stairs on his own but all the evidence compiled against him led him to confess to the crime.
