Little Girl Is Heartbroken To Find Out That She Can't Marry Her Father In An Adorable Video

3-year-old Bella Atkinson was upset to know that her dad was already taken... by her mom!

There's nothing more heartbreaking than knowing that the man you love is taken. It came as a tragic surprise to sweet little 3-year-old Bella Atkinson when she realized that the man she loved was already seeing someone else... her mother! In the now-viral video taken by her mom, Jenna Atkinson, the toddler can be seen crying as she found out that "Daddy Matt" had another woman in his life. When Bella was looking at photos that hang on the family home's staircase, she saw a photo of her parents' wedding.  "She said 'You and Dad are married?' I told her, 'Yes, do you think you will get married one day too?' Then, after she thought about that for a while, she got a sad look on her face and realized her dream man -- Daddy Matt -- was already taken and the conversation in the video is what ensued," Atkinson told Good Morning America. She also mentioned that Bella and Matt are very close.

"He teaches her about the outdoors and how to be strong and fearless, but is also always just as happy to be her favorite customer at the 'beauty parlor' to get his nails painted or give her extra kisses in a 'cuddle nest' of blankets and pillows on the couch," Atkinson said. "She runs to the door every time she hears him pull in from work and I'm not sure which one of them is more excited when he opens the door." Bella is upset that she can't marry her father but is content to share her dad with her mom... for now! "As she gets older, it'll be an easier transition to accept she needs to find someone else to potentially marry," Atkinson said. "He has definitely set a high bar for any other boys that come into her life one day."

A strong and healthy relationship between a father and daughter can help a child develop healthy levels of self-esteem and security. “How Dad approaches life will serve as an example for his daughter to build off of in her own life, even if she chooses a different view of the world,” shared Michael Austin, associate professor of philosophy at Eastern Kentucky University and editor of Fatherhood — Philosophy for Everyone: The Dao of Daddy. “What matters in the father-daughter relationship is that Dad seeks to live a life of integrity and honesty, avoiding hypocrisy and admitting his own shortcomings so that she has a realistic and positive example of how to deal with the world. He should try to model a reflective approach to life’s big questions so that she can seek to do the same,” he told She Knows. Looks like Daddy Matt is doing a great job with sweet little Bella, who will probably look back on the video as she grows up and have a good laugh!
