Gwen Stefani And Blake Shelton Marry In Intimate Oklahoma Ceremony: "Beyond Inseparable"

The pair has been dating since 2015 and got engaged in 2020.

It's official—Gwen Stefani, 51, and Blake Shelton, 45, are now husband and wife. Fans had been watching their undeniable chemistry play out as coaches on the reality talent show, The Voice, for years. By November 2015, the two were officially dating and by 2016, they made public appearances on the red carpet as a couple. Four years later, Stefani made her return to The Voice as a coach. "They're still madly in love and beyond inseparable," a source told PEOPLE then. "Blake has wanted to take his time with marriage, but he is absolutely committed to Gwen. They both feel they've found their true partner in life and plan to be together forever." By the end of October 2020, the couple announced their engagement on Instagram, each sharing a photo of Stefani and Shelton kissing as she showed off her ring. The country singer captioned it: Hey @gwenstefani thanks for saving my 2020... And the rest of my life. I love you. I heard a YES!"

In 2015, Shelton filed for divorce from Miranda Lambert, his second wife, after four years of marriage. Weeks later, Stefani and Gavin Rossdale—who have three children together—ended their 13-year marriage. Shelton and Stefani began bonding over their own heartbreak and respective divorces at the time. "When you're where she and I were, and you just feel so betrayed and on bottom, this bond that we formed when we found out what each other were going through, it's still there," Shelton previously told PEOPLE. "What's most important to Gwen is somebody who has her back and is a best friend so that's kind of how it started. It just feels like it gets stronger all the time,” Shelton said in 2017. When Shelton was named Sexiest Man Alive, Stefani beamed, “He’s perfect for it,” the "No Doubt" rocker told PEOPLE. “Somebody that is funny and has a sense of humor is sexy — that’s the No. 1 thing.”

According to Page Six, the couple's wedding ceremony took place at Shelton’s Oklahoma ranch. Some sources have previously said he actually built a chapel with the intention of marrying Stefani there. Several weeks before the wedding, Stefani shared that her family had thrown her a bridal shower.

"I got kidnapped by my family to celebrate," she said in a video. "I'm getting married!" The singer shared photos of several of her gifts, including a card "to the Bride to Be" and some pretty, pink flowers. "Feeling loved feeling blessed," she wrote. The two ended up getting married in an intimate ceremony on July 3rd.

A source also told PEOPLE that Shelton asked Stefani's three sons, Kingston James McGregor, 15, Zuma Nesta Rock, 12, and Apollo Bowie Flynn, 7, for permission before he proposed. "Blake told her boys that he wanted to propose and asked their permission," the insider said. "Her family very much approves of him. He's an amazing partner and a great extra dad to the boys. Gwen is ecstatic. The proposal was a surprise."

Stefani is grateful to have found such an incredible partner. "I think in a romantic way, when you fall in love so hard and so unexpectedly - and so late in your life - you think 'I want to marry you!' That's the first romantic reaction, like, 'Let's get married,'" she told Hoda Kotb about her and Shelton's divorces. "So we always talked about it, of course, and I think that as the years were going by, it didn't need to happen. There was a lot of healing to do."

Shelton has also been open about becoming a stepfather. "I don't know if it's as hard or harder or not as hard as being an actual, biological parent, you know?" he told KFROG's The Ride with Kimo & Heather. "I have a stepfather in my life who's one of my heroes. I love my stepfather and I look up to him and he's like a father to me, so I have a good inspiration in my life for how to do this and the kind of stepdad I want to be. And I take it very seriously." "But I also have a blast with it, I'm not gonna lie," added Shelton. "I don't take it so serious that I'm not enjoying this time because I really am, especially now that we're five years into this thing." "I can't imagine my life without these kids now," he said.
