21-Year-Old Man Slits His Wife’s Throat & Then Holds Her Hand Until She Dies

The Florida native also ‘played her favorite music’ for what he estimates to be 10 minutes until she died.

Trigger Warning: This article contains graphic details that may be distressing to readers.

A 21-year-old man from Altamonte Springs, Florida allegedly confessed to killing his wife, Nhu Quynh Pham, after she burned his passport. Xichen Yang has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder and tampering with evidence.

Cops went to an address in the 900 block of Ballard Street to conduct a welfare check just before 9 a.m. Tuesday. The New York Post reports that police found Pham lying in a “pool of blood” in the bathtub. Twenty-one-year-old Pham was found dead from a knife wound on her neck.

Yang allegedly told his boss what he had done when his employer at a pool maintenance company called to see why Yang had not yet arrived at work. “Yang said he was upset with his wife, Pham, because she had burned his passport,” and that he had done “unspeakable things” to her.

“Pham had a deep laceration to the left side of her neck which had blood running down from it,” a report stated. “Her stomach was also pooled with blood.” Yang allegedly confessed to committing the crime. He told detectives that before the killing, “he could feel himself getting more and more angry … and that he could have stopped short of killing her.” As to why he didn't stop, police said Yang revealed "that was 'not how he was raised' and that he is the type of person who always ‘goes all the way.'”

Yang apparently lost control of his rage on June 21, slit his wife’s throat, and then carried her to the bathtub. He then played her favorite music and held her hand as she bled to death. Cops say they recovered a pair of pink rubber gloves on the floor and a bottle of cleaning disinfectant. Authorities noted that “he placed Pham in the bathroom tub, ‘played her favorite music’ and ‘held her hand’ for what he estimates to be approximately 10 minutes, until she died.” Yang did not call 911 for help, they said.

A GoFundMe campaign has been started by a friend to help Pham’s family send her body back to her native Vietnam for burial. It stated: we are trying to get some funds together to assist Quynh’s family for funeral expenses as well as transporting her back to Vietnam which is where all of her family members reside. Quynh was loved by many and created many friendships during her time with us. Anything helps even just sharing the link to this gofundme as we are fighting against time. Thank you to you all.
